ACT ON THE VISION

If God gave you a vision today, how would you feel? Excited? Scared? It’s often difficult to know where to start, so here are some ideas for putting that vision into action.

• Begin with prayer; ask God to confirm what He wants you to do, and how to do it. “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but the Lord’s purpose prevails.” (Proverb 19:21 NIV)


• Write it down. God told Habakkuk, write the vision down and make it plain. It will give you something clear, definite and permanent to follow.


• Set deadlines. The vision is yet for an appointed time (Habakkuk 2:3 NKJV). Without a definite beginning and ending, it’s easy to procrastinate and get nowhere.


• List the steps you need to take. Keep your list – it’ll show you a clear path to follow.


• Prioritize the steps. Which is the most important? What you need to do first? What can you do later? An organized plan is always better than trying to carry stuff around in your head.


• Take action. Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise. Making the most of everything (Ephesians 5:15-16 NIV). A less than perfect plan that is implemented is better than a brilliant plan that never actually makes it out of planning stage.


• Do something each day to move the vision forward. Even if you can only take small step at a time, take it anyway. The psalmist said, ‘Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom’ (PS 90:12 NIV). It might take your whole life to accomplish your vision, so above all, remember to keep checking in with God to make sure you’re still in line with His will, What now? If God ‘s already given you a vision. Take time now to pray about it and write it down. If you haven’t got one yet, ask God to show you the vision He has for.
